Workshops & Classes
Jean Warren is an inspirational teacher of the creative process, in which painting in watercolor becomes an exciting journey into new discoveries. In addition to her weekly classes at Sebastopol Center for the Arts, Jean also gives workshops for art groups around the country, and together with Elaine Frenett holds an annual Art Journaling Retreat each August in the Sierras.
The Abstract Process
My typical workshops are exciting adventures in creative watercolor! Making use of old paintings, photos and sketches, we use different techniques to take our work in new directions of discovery. We draw, change existing shapes and compositions, work with themes, re-arrange to break up the space, unify, balance, use tension and connections. We learn how to use simultaneous contrast, counterchange, linkage, fractured images and intervals.
